Beginner Guide to Watercolours

We all love the painting classes from our childhood and we see that children of this gen too love painting. The art of getting your hands painted to fill up the paper makes it all the more interesting.

Painting is one of the versatile media that helps you let your creativity running. To make it enjoyable and easy, we have compiled a few tips that allow you to absorb the techniques of using watercolours.

Basic Supplies:

  • Watercolours
  • Brushes
  • Cold/hot press water paper
  • Palette
  • Cloth
  • Clean water

Important tips:

Blending:

You can start blending by making a circle on the paper. Begin with the lightest shade, and keep going, and make the opposite ends darker. The observation should be of the thin gap between the dark and the light shade, which shows exclusively. To lighten the shade, use more of water.

Finally to give the shady shadow effect, draw some dark lines underneath and blend it out, thinning out.

Mixing colours:

You can play around with watercolours as much as you do with the normal colours. You can experiment for yourself for some unique colours, or refer to the common colour mixing chart that’s available easily and show those blended colours on your art.

These basic tips would definitely help you get started.
